[Yaesu] FT-857 "dial" tuning knob

Through a set of mischances too tedious to relate, the big 
("dial") tuning knob got pulled off my 857 this morning in 
the car. It appears that some sort of sleeve has gone missing, 
since the knob fits very loosely on the encoder shaft, with a 
significant amount of slop, wobble, and rock. 

What I see is the knob, the encoder shaft, a spring wound around
the threaded bearing of the encoder, and a little plastic washer
that fits over the encoder shaft and sits up against the bearing.

Inspection of the shaft and knob reveal that there's no setscrew
or other _obvious_ mechanical retainer. 

What should I be looking for? How hard is it to get replacements 
from Yaesu?
