I'm not sure what you've heard from people on this reflector, but
according to Chip Margelli from Yaesu, the FT-2000 is scheduled to be
released this month or in early August, not some distant date in the
future.
The Mark V will not be re-marketed, because they're no longer being made
and haven't been for almost a year, so it's probably best to not get
your hopes up in that regard. With used prices the way they are, it'd be
pretty easy on the wallet to pick one up used, though.
How can there be consensus about the performance of a radio no one has
used yet? No one on this list has actually used a FT-2000, so how can
they know if it's as good, worse or better than a Mark V, with or
without the roofing filter mod?
