It's the "WIRES" internet linking function, and the worst ergonomic decision
I think I've ever seen.  It's like they expect us to be constantly switching
the internet link.  I'd think this would be a deep menu - most users would
either use it all the time or not at all.

And don't feel bad - the problem is so common that I've come to learn who
owns an 88 or 8900 so I can "talk them through it" when their radio does it
to them accidentally - and I don't even OWN one.

press down the volume control on the side you are xmitting on.  Not sure
what this function is for but it sure was a big pain to find the first time.
