I believe that the replacement rig will be the FT-2000. You may see this rig
announced at Dayton this year.

I noticed that Yaesu has discontinued the FT-1000mp Mark V and FT-1000mp
Mark V Field models (according to the AES catalog).  Will there be a
replacement for this size/type rig?

The new FTdx-9000, starting at $5,700 before adding extras, seems a little
steep.  

Poor eyesight and stiff old fingers make the FT-987D unattractive for me.
