Jeff,

An interesting bunch of questions. 

But before I dive deeper into the diagrams, note that the Operating 
Manual states that the four IFs are: 73.62 and 8.215 MHz, and 455, and 
100 kHz.  So I'm guessing the notch is done at 100kHz.  (now diving)
