[Yaesu] FT-897D VFO problem

Hi all, I bought a new FT-897 back around the middle of July.  I have been
really pleased with this radio, quite nice.

This morning I fired it up to see what I could find, and noticed that the
VFO had a "dead" spot in it.  By this, I mean as I turn the VFO knob, it
will only change the frequency for 1/2 to 3/4 of the way around.  The other
1/4 or so, the frequency will not change, until I get the knob back around
to a "good" area.  In the time I have been typing this, I checked it again,
and noticed that the "bad" spot has gotten larger.  I am noticing this in
both the fine tune and "high speed" tune mode.

Has anyone else noticed a problem similar to this, or know of a possible
fix?  The unit is obviously still in warranty, so I don't want risk voiding
that.
