[Yaesu] FT-897D question

Hello, some of you might remember back around the first of the month I
submitted a message about a faulty VFO on my new FT-897D.  Well, I got it
back from service today, 3 weeks to the day from when I sent it off.
Everything seems to be OK with it.  My first contact after powering it up
today was with a station in Croatia.

I have a question that I'm hoping someone might have the answer to.  I have
the bolt on FC-30 auto-tuner.  Does the 897 decrease the output power
automagically when auto tuning?  I haven't seen anything that would indicate
that in the manual.  Presently, I manually drop the power before auto
tuning.

Anyone?
