[Yaesu] FT100D and digital modes

I got the cable in today to hook my FT100D to the Buxcomm rascal, and it seems to work fine, as I has a nice PSK QSO with AB7GW.  However, I am a little curious about the menu #34, which is labeled as AFSK MODE.  I set it to RTTY -U which put the rig on USB when switching to the DIG mode, and it allowed me to use the 500hz filter then.  Was is the difference between the RTTY-U setting and the PCT-U setting?  Which is the best to use for soundcard programs?
