[Yaesu] FT-767 Problem

I have an FT-767which appears to be brain dead.  At turn-on, no display.
After some buttons depressed, get all zeros but no vfo knob action.  MOX/PTT
appears to work but no xmit.  Tuner appears to work.  No audio.  Manual RF
gain moves meter as if there is AGC.
Question:  Is there a known generic problem with this unit that might
exhibit as described?  Dead CPU? Any hints appreciated.
