[Yaesu] FT-5200

I have a YAESU FT-5200 Dual Band Radio that has developed (what I think of
as) a rather strange problem.
The UHF side work fine, but on the VHF side, the Microphone produces no
spoken audio. However, what really makes this strange is that the DTMF pad
stile sends tones without a problem on both the UHF & VHF sides of the
radio. In other words, on VHF the Mic will produce no SPOKEN audio but the
tones are fine. I can stile call up and take down the local VHF IRLP NODE on
147.090 here.
Any ideas on what to look for and where??
