Hi all,
I'm trying to help a U.S Army Soldier/Ham licensed in YI with a couple
issues. Due to the length of elapsed time mailing stuff, trying it out
to see if it works, etc...... I'll ask the list to try an avoid errors
or delays.
Joe is running a new FT-857D, has the CT 62 cable, and a yet disclosed
piece of software sold by where he purchased the rig from via internet
here in the states. (all new) He is running XP home in a laptop, no
serial ports, 4 USB and 1 as he described "printer port". (probably LPT,
but useless for XP radio keying)
Does anyone have a "proven" USB/SERIAL converter that would work in this
application? He does have a PCMIA slot available, (multiple serial
ports?) Money IS a concern in this case. And as I would assume (I hate
using that word) he'd need another serial port to key cw, etc? I'm not
at all familiar with his rig, cable, etc.. Just trying to help this guy
out. Please feel free to reply off list if you prefer.
73,
Zig - KM9M
