The short story is that when you install an AM filter, it goes in the 
hole originally intended for the CW filter.   Filter selection is done 
by the mode switch on the front panel and the factory wiring w/o 
optional filter will select the SSB filter in all four positions.   The 
mod described in the manual for installing a CW filter will include 
changing the mode switch to select the optional filter in CW mode.  
 If you install an AM filter, then the mode switch wiring needs to 
select the SSB filter when in CW mode and the optional (AM) filter 
when in AM mode.  

It's not a complicated change and you can actually figure it out by 
studying how the CW filter installation is done; it involves adding a 
diode as I remember.   But the better answer is probably to read 
the FoxTango site already mentioned.
