[Yaesu] FT101E AM Filter

There is a modification, which is documented in the FT101 service manual,
which re-wires the mode switch to select the optional filter "position" in
AM mode instead of CW mode. Basically, one of the wafers on the mode switch
selects the SSB filter for SSB, TUNE, and AM modes, while the optional
filter slot is selected in CW mode. When the optional filter is not present,
as when new, the filter board has two caps that couple the stock SSB filter
to the optional filter slot, essentially making the one filter work in both
slots. For the CW narrow filter installation, you simply remove the two
caps and solder in the filter. To use an AM filter, you need to remove the
caps, solder in the filter, then re-wire the mode switch to select the 2nd
filter slot on AM mode rather than CW mode.

The FT101 series was never really designed for an AM filter. However, after
the radio grew in popularity, especially with the 11-meter crowd in the late
70s, the mod became well known and simple enough to perform. The actual
XF-30B 6.0KHz filter was originally offered for the FR-101 receiver of the
FR/FL 101 twins.
