[Yaesu] Remote cable for FT8900R

I just got a FT8900R in, and it came with a homebrew
remote cable. However, I didn't get the short cable
used when you attach the faceplate to the body of the
rig. I have one ordered from Yaesu, but who knows when
it will come in.  I have seen several different
comments about using standard 6 pin telephone cables
for remote kits.  Will any 6 pin telephone cable work,
or do the wires need to be crossed?  It seems that I
have seen a couple of different statements about this.
 I want to go to Wal-Mart or Radio Shack and pick up a
short cable so I can mount the head of the rig to the
body.
