[Yaesu] VHF transmit audio questions

I have been considering the Yaesu FT-7800R dual band
radio (2 meters/70 cm.)and have concerns about the
transmit audio. My son has the FT-7100 which is a
predecessor with dual receive capability. The 7100 has
great transmit audio with plenty of punch.

However, a friend recently purchased the FT-2800M 2
meter XCVR which seems to be a fine little radio
except that the transmit audio is not natural, seems
to be lacking in lows, and the lows are somewhat
metallic sounding. That's about the best I can
describe it, and a couple of others agree with that
description.

My first question is whether that transmit audio
quality is characteristic of the 2800M or could it be
defective?

The second question is how is the transmit audio on
the FT-7800R?
