FT-990 The TX sound is as good as Collins (I am told)
and the QSK is unsurpassed, I like the amber fluorescent
display with analog meter and the internal ATU works better
than I would have imagined.
The RF pre-amp is so quite you can NOT turn it off, no
reason to, The FT-990 was designed AFTER the FT-1000.
   My Yaesu filters (.5, 2 & 2.4 kc/s) are flawless with no
leakage around the edges (like my FT-757GTII) the DSP, notch
and (RF) audio processing were state of the art when the
model was introduced.
The MD-1 desk mic (dynamic) has a (counter wound) coil
around the capsule to cancel out induced hum from nearby
power supplies and lights.
