[Yaesu] FT-1500M Memory programming question

I am unable to save a frequency into the FT-1500M's memory.  When I 
press the D/MR key to store I don't get a beep, the display just 
returns to VFO as it's supposed to.  The Lock Feature is off.  Have I 
somehow locked out the ability to store frequencies in memory?  If so, 
how do I unlock it?
