[Yaesu] FT900 filter help

Hi Guys (and gals),

I recently put an InRad 703 400hz filter in my FT-900 and so far I'm very
disappointed with the way it performs. With the CW Narrow engaged, I now
get all kinds of "images" when tuning the band. If I punch the CW button
to take it out of "narrow" most of the images go away, however, there are
still a few that seem to occur with very strong signals.

As for actually tightening up the receive, I can't say it did anything at
all. I can still hear signals well outside of the 500hz range. In fact, I
can still hear signals nearly 2khz away in "narrow". Is this normal for
this radio/filter combination?

While I shouldn't compare the performance to my Mark V, I would certainly
expect more than what I'm seeing. Something doesn't appear to be right,
but I can't tell what it is. As a side note, the 703 used to be a 703C. I
removed the circuit board in order to mount the filter in the FT-900. From
what I have been told (including InRad), the only difference is that the C
model has the circuit board attached for the MP line.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. I'm getting ready for a
couple of contest expeditions and was hoping this radio would play.
