[Yaesu] FT-2400

Had the same thing happen to my FT-2400 about 18-24 months ago.
Resetting the cpu fixed it for a while but it kept coming back, I
finally replaced the memory backup battery and the problem went away.
This doesn't mean the problem was the batt. but maybe disassembling and
reassembling the unit cleaned some connector that was getting corroded.
The other problem I had with this unit was the PA, a SAV24 , the radio
stopped transmitting one day but didn't show any signs of trouble (I
stopped getting into the repeater one day). A quick check w/a watt meter
showed no output (the s meter on the display showed full scale).
I was fortunate to get a copy of the schematic (which is on the web) and
found that there was a break in the solder on the ceramic substrate
board of the PA module. To access the module's circuit pry off the
plastic cover, be careful with the leads from the module as they break
easily.
Examine the module w/ a magnifier to look for a break in the solder
trace, if this doesn't work then use a voltmeter along the traces while
keying up on low power until you see a dramatic change in levels, the
break will be obvious.
Repairing the broken solder will need a 30-40 watt iron and a steady
hand as the ceramic substrate is quite a heat sink!
Hope this helps
