[Yaesu] RE: mic squealing problem

I have a ft-301. I don't have the original mic that came with the radio, so 
I'm using a pre-amp hand-held mic. Everytime I key up to talk on ssb the mic 
is so sensitive that even when the gain is all the way down it still shows 
full power output. Any way I can turn the sensitivity of the pre-amp mic 
down. Does anyone know were I can get a used stock mic for this rig if I 
can't rectify this problem?
