[Yaesu] Quadra Failure

Hi John,
One thing you can check is the REMOTE switch on the rear panel of the RF
cabinet. This switch should be on (up) when using a Yaesu exciter with a
Band Data cable, and down (off) when using a non-Yaesu exciter. If you
attempted to power up the Quadra with the Band Data cable not connected and
the Remote switch on, the PSU would not deliver the +48V Vdd and you would
see the #1005 error.
You can verify this by setting the Remote switch to "off" (down) and
pressing the Power button on the VP-1000. If the Quadra powers up correctly,
then the Band Data cable was not connected or defective. If you still see
the #1005 error, you can check the voltage between Pin 1 (+48V) and Pin 5
(-) of the 8-pin rectangular Molex DC power connector by carefully inserting
the meter probes into the back of the plug. If the voltage is zero, or
significantly below or above 48V, the VP-1000 is faulty, and you will need
to ship both units to the Yaesu service centre.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

HI, Well before I heard any answer to my other question, I just got my amp
hooked back up from re-doing my shack. When I turn the amp on now, I get the
Warning message #1005- Protection Circuit Detects Improper PA DC Voltage.
Anything I can check with this besides sending both units in? Thanks- John
