[Yaesu] FT-990 Antenna Tuner defect

Hello all,
My FT-990 has a defective antenna tuner, I hope anyone
can help or can tell me if there have been posts in
the past about this. Here is my description of the
problem:
One of the motor-driven capacitors ("Load") is always
beyond fully unmeshed position. The other one ("Tune")
only turns to different positions when switching
between bands.
Automatic tuning doesn't work anymore. I have done a
power-up reset and a 24 hour period without
backup-battery. I put the capacitors in fully meshed
position. Then turned on the ft990, pushed the
tune-button, and the "load" capacitor turned
immediately to the beyond unmeshed position, the
"tune"capacitor turned to the same positions as
before.
The position-potentiometers and end-position switches
are fine.
Has anyone any idea what to do best before I start to
measure and test every signal-line between controller
and tuner?
