Darn it I was going to buy one at Dayton if they are still in stock
somewhere. The FT857 was ruled out when I saw the smashed down
display, way too small. Better look elsewhere.....

Subject: [Yaesu] Repair charges for ground mod

I have a FT100D which I recently acquired, which has a
serial number 0D####. It is showing the HI SWR
problem on 10 and 12 meters, and it appears that it
had the very early grounding mod done, meaning a
single copper strip attached at 1 place to a circuit
board. I know that the later mods were much more
extensive.

I contacted the Yaesu service department today, and
the tech I spoke with said that they will do the mod,
but they are no longer doing it for free, as they once
did. It will cost approximately $150 plus shipping
both ways. This charge is expected to come out of my
pocket for a design flaw on their behalf, not to
mention the 3 1/2 to 4 weeks that I am without a
radio.

Does anyone know the proper person to speak with at
Yaesu to get this mod done at Yaesu's cost. It was
their design which did it, and they should own up to
it and fix the problem. I am sure that speaking to
the right person will get action, it is just finding
that person. Has anyone else had any luck getting
Yaesu to take care of this problem recently? I could
sure use some help.
