[Yaesu] Help: FT-1000D QSK and sidetone issue

I have an FT-1000D and I am not satisfied with the rig's operation in =
full break-in QSK mode. There is a short, but definite "thump" sound as =
the rig switches from transmit and back to receive that becomes =
objectionable as you use break-in for a while. It's like sending code =
in the midst of a sea of "thump" sounds.

In listening carefully to the radio in non-break-in mode, it sounds like =
I may have two smaller issues that add up into the noise I hear during =
QSK. There is a bit of a "thump" in non-QSK mode as the receiver =
switches back on after transmit. Also, the CW side tone has a =
noticeable key click on the leading and trailing edges. Combined, I =
think this is what I am hearing; the T/R switching combined with the =
ending "click" of the last character sent.

Has anyone on the reflector ever softened the sidetone on their FT-1000D =
to take away key clicks or worked on the T/R switching to lessen receive =
noise upon the T/R switch taking place?

Some have told me that their FT-1000D has great QSK, so I feel I can =
improve the rig's current performance.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

Darryl
