[Yaesu] FT-920

My FT-920 has developed a minor problem that I can't resolve.

When I initially turn the power on, the Main (VFO-A) frequency display
blinks off & on. All other displays are normal, however at this point the
radio is silent and will not operate. I can turn the radio off and quickly
back on again and all is normal.

I assume this is some kind of error msg, but i cant find anything in the
user manual that addresses this condition. Perhaps I have placed it in some
mode it don't like.

A new memory backup battery did not fix the problem. If anyone else has
experienced this, I would appreciate knowing of the solution to correct it.
I do not have a service manual. Perhaps someone with one could see if this
condition is covered in the troubleshooting.
