Hello,
This afternoon, I come in my car and I mount my FT-100D removable head
on his mounting socket. I put the power ON and I realized that the fan
on the FT-100d unit, in the back of the car, are running very fast at
the moment that I open the radio. I was thinking that the sun make the
radio case very hot to force these fans to start even before I start
transmitting.
So, i do not care to this at that moment. I take the microphone and
start my transmission on a local 2m repeater. I realized that my signal
is very border line on the repeater...in normal time a little handheld
radio with 500mW can make a good contact on the repeater. So, I was
considering a problem with my radio. I look at the meter and the SWR
seems to be good (1:1) but the power was 0! No output at all. I am
looking in the menus to see if my power was wrong, but it was at 50W.
so, why I got that problem and I am not transmitting the 50W like in
normal time.
I stop in a parking lot to look at the radio because the fans was still
running at maximum speed. Between I have put the switch ON and the Time
I look at the radio, only 5 minutes passed. When I touch the radio, I
realized the temperature is very very hot like if I was transmitting
since 1 hours, key down at 100W. So, I also realized that heating
happened when the radio was off with the remote head removed! I have
disconnected all the power cable and let the radio cooling.
Tomorrow, when the radio will be cold, I will reconnect the power cable
and take a current measurement to see what is wrong with the
alimentation! I will also try to transmit to see if I can exit some
power of this radio.
Someone already get this problem?? And can help me ?
Thanks,
