Because there are already several in my car, why add another? ;) I
currently have my FT-8500 installed in the car with the head remoted,
but it would be nice to be able to use the buttons on the steering
wheel for PTT and the mic in the drivers compartment for audio. Using
the stereo for audio output is just gravy, I'll admit. It does just
seem that it would be cool to have the car display the frequency in
use, but it's not completely necessary.
I'll have to see what signals are on the Mic connector for my FT-8500
and see if there's a clean way to splice in the button press signals
from the steering wheel. PTT seems very useful, but tuning up/down
would be nice and vol+/- would complete the set. :)
Cheers,
