[Yaesu] Quick Question

Had an FT-990 for about four years, sold it along with SP-6 Speaker and Timewave
DSP-59Y. Kept my FT-900CAT with 250 Hz CW filter and no DSP. The 990 was nice
but the 900 is quieter, has a great dual metering system that can show power
out and SWR at the same time, and very similiar specifications including the
internal antenna tuner. Fan on the 990 was quieter than the 900 fan, and I liked
the TX Clarifier on the 990. I had to mod the 990 to get down to QRP power and
minimum power on the 900 is about 2.2 watts. The 900 has internal keyer which
works ok, but I prefer to use an external keyer, my favorite being an old MFJ-422B
with Bencher paddle. I'm not sorry I got rid of the 990 but I intend to keep
the 900 as it seems to have better internal specs than the newer Yaesu radios.
Hope this is of interest.
