Hello Ron...
   The problem with your radio is that one of the three VCOs in the unit
have quit.  Sometimes a part goes out of tolerance and the VCO stops
firing, other times it's a broken trace on the PC board.
   Is the problem intermittent?  Temperature related?.
   If you can get the radio running by poking around the board (with a
plastic tool!) then it's likely a trace.
   I'll have to do some "poking" around myself to discover which board is
the suspect one.
