The following site will be of great interest to you. It contains a detailed
history of the FT-101 series.

Subject: [Yaesu] FT101 series question

Having been a former owner of a FT101 series radio
(THE FT101B), I am curious as to the major differences
between the models. I believe that the B added 160
meters to the original FT101 series. The major
differences between the E and the B was the speech
processor, an off/on button for the Clarifier, and the
addition of an AUX band position.

So, what is the differences between the FT101F and the
FT101E? The F series-FT101F, FT101FE, and FT101FX
seem to be fairly rare. Don't think I have ever seen
a FT101fx.
