[Yaesu] FT-817 questions

Enjoying my 817 a whole lot here.  I got the Buddipole and am quite 
impressed with the whole thing (cost near as much as the radio, but it 
turns out to be so versatile and useful that I find it quite worth the 
money...)

I also picked up the little LDG auto tuner for simple wire antennas but 
would like to work out an internal battery for the LDG - anyone done 
this?  I have some lithium batteries from the little Alinco credit card 
rigs that I can series to get the proper voltage and I can attach them 
to the top of the case inside, but it is a tight fit.  Anyone have a 
better battery solution?  I am not so concerned with weight as I am with 
space, simplicity and fewer wires.
