I have an FT-901DM which has been sitting idle for 20+ years. I have just
re-licensed (awaiting my call sign) and I am in the process of firing up the
rig. After dusting and a general check, I powered up the rig and it
basically came to life. It looks like none of the electrolytic capacitors >>
I may be able to help in one area.
The ATT button has had many hams think the relay has gone out to lunch:)
Remove the top cover and (RIG UNPLUGGED) spray the ATT button from the back
side,
Just about everyone I know had this problem.
Also after sitting 20+ years pull the relays out and clean the pins.
They pull right out of the socket..
As for the second problem,
I can't be of much help but I have 12 boxes still not unpacked in 2 years and
one of them has a copy of the service manual.
Send me your address and i'll dig it up and mail it to you.
I do recall reading the alignment procedure for the width control.
I had the full 901 DM station ,tuner, scope, remote VFO,SPKR/PATCK and sold it
all for $450.00
Nice base station rig and way ahead of it's time.
I still have the narrow CW filter for that rig.
I would remove both top and bottom covers and spray down all the controls and
let them dry good.
Tomorrow i'll look for that service manual but for now take care of the ATT
button and let me know how you did.
