Additional information.

Frozen was probably a bad choice of words. The tuning knob still turns about
a half a turn before meeting abnormal resistance. Even during the half a
turn of normal resistance, the frequency does not change. This just
happened, no period of gradually increasing resistance. The bushing or
bearing on the front of the radio directly behind the knob appears to be
fine. The resistance appears to be coming from something farther inside the
radio. I've emailed my dealer for assistance as I just received the radio a
couple of weeks ago.
