Yes. These aren't silly questions. I daresay that many of today's hams
who have grown up on solid state rigs, don't understand the concept
since they haven't had any need to deal with loading and tuning a hollow
state rig.

Yes. If you are only using the antenna on 40 Mx, you should only need
just a touch up when you advance the drive to get full output.
