[Yaesu] Proper way of tuning up a analog rig

I'm a little confused here but I thought that the FT-301 'was' a solid state
rig. The tune control should be like a pre-selector for peaking the RF ( I'm
remembering my TS-700 two meter rig ). If I'm wrong.....please don't hurt me.
