Cort,

It's really pretty easy. Under the little hatch on the top of the radio
are various controls which are mounted on a small circuit board. The
backup battery is also mounted on that circuit board. All you have to do
is remove the top cover of the radio, remove the plastic overlay that
fits over the controls on the small PCB, and you will see the battery.
The battery has solder tabs welded to it and you will have to lift up
the PCB to unsolder it, but it is basically a piece of cake.
