Harris;
I had a FT-900 for many years, I currently do not. I had a similar =
problem with my
radio. On mine, it would just shut off every time I tried to adjust the =
main VFO.
The receiver does not have any relays in its signal path. It's all pin =
diodes. The only
relays in normal use are for the tuner and lo-pass filter selection for =
the transmitter.
I found that the reset command is not a complete reset, and can leave =
the radio
partially disabled. The only way I was able to do a reset was to turn =
off the battery
switch, on the bottom of the radio, and leave it sit overnight. =
Suggest, if you haven't
already don that, you try it. let us know how you do.

Subject: [Yaesu] FT-900 doesn't work (again)
I have an FT-900 that's been sitting in its box since it was worked=20
over by Yaesu 2 years ago. I tested it then, and re-packed it for=20
future use.
When I finally went to use it this past weekend, it did not work. The=20
symptoms are:
1. EXTREMELY attenuated RX (that is, almost no AF -- and all that=20
comes through is the occasional 40M broadcast station). Unless you=20
put you ear to the speaker, you can't hear a thing.
2. Infinitely high SWR on all bands, into a 7 band W9INN (tuned) =
antenna.
My guess is that it's the T-R relay, stuck in a position between TX=20
and RX, but I really don't know. Does the 900 have a switch between=20
mechanical/electronic T/R?? I'm not using an amp, so maybe I can=20
switch it to check it in the "other" position, whatever that is.
Yes, I did the processor reset a couple of times.
Any suggestions before I have to ship the damn thing back to CA??
Thanks in advance
