[Yaesu] VX-7R on 6 meters

I have heard several people say that the stock VX-7R
antenna is one of the best HT antennas out there for 6
meters, both transmit and receive.  I am looking to
get a SMA antenna to using for 6 meter receive only
(on SSB), and wonder if this is true.  What are your
experiences with using the VX-7R on 6 meters?  Does
the Stock HT antenna hear pretty good?  One ham said
he thought that it heard better than his MFJ 20 inch
6/2/440 antenna.
