[Yaesu] Cheapest RS232 <-> TTL Level Shifter

Many of us have rigs we'd like to interface with that do not have RS-232
ports, but rather "TTL" ports. The FT-1000D is one item that comes to mind.
In order to interface with a PC serial port, you need a level shifter. The
Yaesu FIF-232 is the part that is supposed to be used with such rigs from
Yaesu. It costs around $100. A lot of money. Hosenose.com makes a unit
that costs about $50.
But there's a cheaper solution from Yaesu themselves! It's the CT-62 cable
that is designed for the FT-817. It has a built in level shifter on the
cable (sorta like the Hosenose.com models). The cost? LESS THAN $30!!!!
Yes, it is about $29.00 for a CT-62. I just picked one up today. True, it
has a Mini-Din connector on it as opposed to the large DIN of say the
FT-1000D. But one could easily either make an adapter cable or cut the
mini-Din off and add a regular sized DIN.
Just thought I'd let everyone know about this.
