I got the suggestion that I just stick with the stock SSB filter for a 
while, sounds like good advice.

However, for those who are curious, I did find a set of photos (I don't 
have my 817 yet) of the boards.  Sure enough, the FT 817 does use the 
Murata K14 filter, as did the TS 440.  Not a very good shape factor, but 
acceptable for many purposes.  It means that the spare K13 or K12 may be 
substituted if needed.  That's good news.
