as he has installed an FT857 in his Ford SUV with an aftermarket screwdriver antenna mounted on the rear bumper. His setup works fine, does not need a tuner and provides him with ample HF use. He does not need an antenna tuner.

If any of you are using the ATAS120 antenna with an FT-857 or FT-100D 
could you take a moment and let me know how well it works. I am looking 
for a screwdriver type antenna to use with my FT-857 and I would like
