[Yaesu] FTC_1123 hand held

Would anyone have information on the programming of
a recent find a FTC-1123. I have been to all sources
for any information only to find out that a reset switch
needs to be pushed first by the battery latch. I did
this and at least I could get it to receive but no off set
or transmit.
Thanks, 73s
Bob, KC2LTX

Subject: [Yaesu] Part Number??

Hello
I have a Yaesu FT-8000R that has broken pins/wires on the small black plug
that connects the small PC board that supports the volume/squelch pot on the
UHF
side, and connects it to the main PC board (in the head). The main board
side
of the plug has all three leads broken or pulled loose from its solder
joints!!

I'd like to order a new plug, and a part number would come in handy! Can
anyone supply me with the part number? Also, need the phone number of Yaesu
Parts.

  73s and thanks

Perhaps an SB102, or a TR4 would be happy to key the SB220 directly, but
anything that starts with TS, FT, or IC??? I thought it was a given that
you use an external relay.

Ameritron sells them too. I was able to go direct on my FT-990 to my Amp
Supply LA-1000A but needed an interface for my FT-840. You have to be
careful because you can fry components.

Subject: [Yaesu] FT 897 and 857 questions

I am looking to buy either the 897 or the 857 in the coming month. I
can't resist (and I am quite satisfied with my 817 at this point.)

Anyone on the list have both or experience with both? I am looking to
buy a semi-portable rig that will also serve as a backup and mobile
rig. Both seem to fit the general bill, but the 857 is $100 less.

I know there are Yahoo groups and I do sometimes read what is posted
there. I am not a member and choose not to join.

A few questions if anyone knows the answers -

Do the 897 and 857 have similar current drain characteristics? (I am
especially interested in current drain at the 20 or 10 watt output
level, typical park bench operation :-) I know the 897 has internal
batteries, but I might consider running the 857 with an external gel
cell at the 10 amp hour level (just as easy for me), so the current
drain is of interest.

Does the 897 and the 857 have equally (bad) QSK? I have the 817, the
QSK is not so good, but semi QSK is fine with me. IF one has fair/good
QSK, that would be of interest to me.

I have a friend with the 897 who will meet me in a local (Morro Bay, CA
for anyone who would care to come!) park this Sunday so I can actually
use one. I haven't found a local with the 857 and there is no local ham
store where I can look at it.

Thanks for any input!

(The IDs are not sent with the PL evidently....this varies from rptr to rpt=

Dave,
Thanks for the comment. Please note that I was referring to the Yaesu
internal relay, not the solid state option that is selectable. I did read
the manual carefully enough to note that Yaesu has conflicting information
in the paragraph of non-QSK amplifiers. They refer to the SB220 as having
negative keying voltage, which is wrong. And the ratings they provide are
as I state in my message. Regardless, I was surprised that the internal
relay is rated so low that it could not key the 220.

I have keyed this amp directly with the internal relay in my (now retired)
TS940 for years with perfect performance. It is all dependent on the
contacts of the transceiver relay involved. So, it is not always a given...

Jim,
I assume you refer to the change to the vacuum relay for QSK operation?
This would indeed solve the problem and will cost quite a bit (two SPDT
vacuum relays at $32 each) compared to a simple external 12V relay. I do
prefer elegant solutions but need to consider the time involved as well.
Thanks for the idea.

Whilst applicable mainly to Icom radios, this page contains some useful
general information on keying tube amplifiers from a transceiver.

BRAVO YAESU on this rig, for sure!

I have had my FT767 for about 8 years. It has been a fabulous rig. I have
all
four modules, 6m, 2m, 430, and 440. I have the 430 installed and use the
rig
as a receiver for both 144 and 432 EME.

As a CW rig it is terrific. The APF (audio peaking filter) allows me to
extract weak signals out of the noise just as good as the Timewave 599zx
DSP,
probably better, definitely easier.

On HF the automatic tuner works great to optimize the match. I use it with
a
CAT program for additional memories and easier selection of VHF and UHF
frequencies.

I use it on all bands, all modes. Even though this rig is obsolete, I plan
on
using it for many years to come.

Subject: Re: [Yaesu] comments on ft-757gx

Darrel, Hart,
that's not completely true.

FT757GX and GXII
RX specifications
-----------------
Freq. Range: continuous (RX and TX) 500KHz to 29.99999MHz (10Hz
                   increments + clarifier)
Clarifier range: Unlimited
Circuit type: Triple conversion superetherodyne
Sensitivity: (CW,SSB,AM figures for 10dB S+N/N)
                   *1.5~30MHz **500KHz~1.5MHz
                   SSB,CW(W),FSK better than *0.25?V **2.0?V
                   CW(N) better than *0.16?V **1.25?V
                   AM better than *1.0?V ** 8.0?V
FM better than 0.6?V for 12dB SINAD
IF: 1st IF 47.060MHz
                   2nd IF 8.215MHz
                   3rd IF 455KHz
                   FM IF 455KHz
Image rejection: better than 70dB
IF rejection: better than 70dB for all frequencies

Filters are provided for
*SSB*(chrystal type),CW(W),FSK 2.7KHz at -6dB, 4.5KHz at -60dB
CW(N) 600Hz at -6dB, 1.3KHz at 60dB
AM 6KHz at -6dB, 18KHz at 60dB
FM 15KHz at -6dB, 30KHz at 60dB
This values are reached with passband tuning and width set to center f.
and maximum width.
N.b. SSB filter can be used for AM(N) with a simple internal wiring
modification of cc signal switch.

Dynamic range better than 100dB (CW(N) at 14MHz)

Main differences between FT757GX vs. FT757GXII vs. FT747GX are mainly to
understand as subsequent evolution in front panel switches quantity
reduction (functions also), different max RFoutput Power (10, 100,
200Wpep models), enhanced CAT system functions, minor design
characteristics in both the RX and TXsection (targetted mostly to reduce
production costs).

The FT757GX/II has fair RTX performances, is manufactured on top of
very modern technologies (for the '80s) but will still stay far ahead
some actual little dimensions HF rigs.

If you need more information on the TX part, ask.

Regards

Andreas Troschka.
