I assume you refer to the change to the vacuum relay for QSK operation?
This would indeed solve the problem and will cost quite a bit (two SPDT
vacuum relays at $32 each) compared to a simple external 12V relay.  I do
prefer elegant solutions but need to consider the time involved as well.
