[Yaesu] 1000MP and MFJ-1278 ?

Is anyone using the FT-1000MP (plain vanilla) with the MFJ-1278 TMC?I have 
made up the cables for both the Packet and RTTY connections on the back of the 
MP. 

The packet connection (5 pin DIN to 5 pin DIN plug) to TNC results in no 
audio from the MP. The RTTY connection (4 pin DIN to 5 DIN plug) to TNC results in 
ability to receive but not transmit.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?
