[Yaesu] Question on VX-5R

Hello,

I have a friend who just bought a used VX-5R. He says that he got it 
programmed for the local repeaters and now it has no receive and no TX even 
thought the radio says it is TXing. Does anyone know of what is going on 
with this radio?
