Barry,
If the fast button is depressed and your in the fast mode (Tuning) when you
use the band up - down keys you are able to switch from the last selected HF
band to all three VHF bands. When I first ran into this problem I thought I
had a bum rig, no it is simple a design feature, why I do not know. Just
unclick the fast button and you can up - down select any band. It isn't
well documented in the manual. I actually took the first rig back to the
store and explain the problem and the staff did not know of this feature or
in my case lack of feature. The replacement did the same thing. I guess its
for those that want to do allot of Satellite work and it therefore makes it
easier to jump from one HF to the VHF without going through several steps.
It's a great rig, I bought it for a backup to the FT1000MP. Sometimes I use
it on the HF's instead of the 1000MP, It sounds better, I feel it has lower
receiver noise floor (internal noise) than the 1000MP. It is a great rig
for the dollars. Hope I helped. You do not have a problem I believe.

Subject: [Yaesu] FT-847 loss of bands
Recently my FT-847 has started to delete all but one band on HF and retain
50 MHz, 2 m and 70 cm. To recover the other HF bands, I have to do a CPU
reset. Seems to work fine for a short time and then it just "blocks"
access to the other HF bands (using the Band UP and Down buttons). Any
ideas?
