Hi Tom,

The FT-920 is a very good rig for the money. I bought one for use as a
standby unit if the FT-1000D ever decides to go kaput on me. Although I
haven' t used it a great deal, I have been pleased both with its performance
and ease of operation.
I do a little dx' ing and very little contesting and for my use the FT-920
is every bit as enjoyable to use as the 1000D.  I think you would like it;
try one before you buy if you can. I believe it would be quite suitable for
use in your motor home.

If I can answer any specific questions about it, let me know.

Kent - K4MK
