Mike,
Thanks a megabyte AND a megacycle for the lead to the GRISOFT anti-virus
software.
I still run Win'95 (vanilla - not OSR2) on one of my systems to maintain
computability with some very old, but very useful radio-ware design apps.
To be sure I have a continual supply of Win'95, I stashed a spare system
away in storage along with an original Win'95 diskette based release.
Replaced the button cell battery, installed, configured, and tested the
system - and it's ready to go if needed. Only needs to come out in 3 years
or so to replace the battery.
Most of the commercially available virus protection packages no longer
function well down this low in the food chain (freeware, shareware, and
commercial) - many needing at least Win'98. Some, like the current
versions from Norton, won't even install on Win'95.
The package downloaded and installed smooth as glass. I'll try it for a bit
and then buy the upgrade version. This software is replacing a pair of
shareware virus scanners that have been a little less than user friendly and
quite a bit less than perfect.
Thanks and 73
Frank
