[Yaesu] Ft-847: Good Rig??

Hello Dennis,
I own the FT-847 for one year, with three Collins filters in it (2 x 2.6 kHz
(RX and TX) and 1 x 500 Hz).
I think it is a very good rig for VHF and UHF, especially for satellite
operation. But I think the rig is not very good for HF. The receiver could
be much better on HF. It is a very nervous radio on HF. In comparison with
my other HF-rigs I get tired within one hour when listening on HF with the
847. With rigs like the Mark V and 1000D I don't get tired at all, not after
almost 24 hours operations during a contest.
For SSB, CW and digital operations on VHF and UHF I use the FT-847 with much
pleasure. For HF it is good enough for vacations, Jamboree On The Air or
fieldday.
For serious HF operations (e.g. DX, contest and other long periods of
operations) please try the FT-1000MP Mk V Field, FT-920 or IC-746 (not Pro).
I don't think that the IC-706 or FT-100 are much better then the FT-847. But
I must admit that I never had the chance to make serious comparisons, just a
few relative short listening periods.
Good luck and 73,
Hans Remeeus.
