[Yaesu] re FT-920 transmit unstability problems

Having replaced the PA rf transistors in this FT-920, it behaves ok on 1.8,
3.5 and 7.0 mhz bands but draws lots of current with no drive applied on the
rest of the bands which appeared to be a problem with the pA stage. However,
I found that by disconnecting the mini coaxial jumber from J1005 (which
connects the receiver to the appropriate antenna via the bandpass filter
board and the tuner board) that the transmitter works fine on all bands
including 50 mhz. This weird problem is likely what caused the output
transistors to go. Anyone out in Yaesu land who has experienced that
problem or know the cure for this. Unfortunately Yaesu did NOT make it easy
to get at the bandpass filter board as it looks like I would have to
completely remove the main board (at the bottom side of the radio) before I
can get at this bandpass filter board!
I'm hoping that we have some experts on board to help me sort this
rascal out. Best of 73's from Fern
